I want to know what possible thought process could have lead to the creation of the "Legion of Super-Pets."

"Um... Super-Horse and Super-Monkey?"
"BRILLIANT! It's like we're just printing money!"
Many people have written in to inform us that Super-Horse is in fact named Comet, and Super-Monkey is named Beppo.
